清明节祭祖

Qing Ming, also known as Tomb-Sweeping Day, is a traditional Chinese festival dedicated to honoring and remembering ancestors by visiting columbariums, cemeteries. Celebrated on the 15th day after the Spring Equinox, usually around April 4th or 5th, it involves family members visiting columbariums, graves, or burial sites. They clean the tombstones, offer food, tea, wine, and other items, and burn joss paper to ensure the deceased have what they need in the afterlife.

For us Buddhists, Qing Ming Festival is an opportunity to recall our ancestors’ generosity and to honor them by reflecting on their honorable lives. Furthermore, by paying attention to their teachings, we can also strive to be like the honorable ones who have gone before us.

The Qing Ming Prayer Ceremony 2024 (清明节祭祖法会) will be held in Nirvana Memorial Garden from 29th March to 31th March.
